Daily toothbrushing is a given for keeping a healthy, shining smile. But brushing the wrong way can end up causing more harm than good. Here are 3 mistakes you may be making:
1. Too Hard
Plaque isn’t difficult to remove so scrubbing harder isn’t necessary. Brushing vigorously can wear away your enamel and damage your gums. And when gums are sensitive and swollen, they are more susceptible to root exposure. Be gentle on your teeth and brush with kindness.
2. Wrong Brush
In some cases, hard bristled toothbrushes can be too abrasive on teeth. Look for softer bristles, but ask your dentist which brush he or she recommends. And don’t forget to use a new brush every 3-4 months.
3. Too Fast
Good things take time! Brushing slowly using the proper techniques trumps a rushed brush. Take the full 2 minutes to give your mouth the at-home cleaning it deserves.
